The American Red Cross is on the ground in California, tirelessly providing help and comfort to people impacted by the wildfires. The Red Cross is working closely with partners to provide safe shelter, food, emotional support and other critical services to those in need.
More than 300 Red Cross workers, many of whom have been impacted by the wildfires themselves, are helping those displaced by the massive and fast-moving wildfires that have destroyed thousands of homes. These compassionate responders are focused on making sure everyone has a safe place to stay, and no one faces this heartbreaking crisis alone.
The Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to victims of disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members and their families. The Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to deliver its mission.
World Central Kitchen’s Relief teams and partners have mobilized across the region to provide nourishing meals to people in need. Through our Climate Disaster Fund, we provide the critical resources that enable immediate, flexible and effective responses to the increasing frequency and severity of climate-related disasters, such as our recurring responses in California.
WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of food trucks or emergency kitchens, WCK provides freshly made, nutritious meals to communities impacted by disasters quickly and effectively. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.
WCK has provided more than 450 million fresh, nourishing meals for communities around the world. Your donation today will be used to support our emergency food relief efforts.
